Great product, worked right out of the box. No problems. Does everything it says and does it well. RECOMMENDED.PS bought it used from one of Amazon's recommended sellers. Saved a lot and got an almost new product. Fast ship in original box (I would have shiped in an extra box, but no damage).
This was a huge enhancement to my 19 hour HD Tivo, bringing me now up to 80 hours of HD. It was relatively simple - just plug it in and reboot (actually had to reboot again after it said it was done).
This is a great idea - if only it had worked. I had trouble with the expander from the outset, but I wasn't able to diagnose that the secondary hard drive was the problem Eventually the hard drive caused the TIVO to stop working altogether and had to be disconnected from the system. The folks at Western Digital refused to replace it because I had not diagnosed that the secondary hard drive was the source of the problems I was having with my TIVO within the warranty period. Perhaps I'm unusually fortunate - I've never had trouble with a hard drive before, but at $200, it was an expensive mistake.
Like many others are reporting, my unit self destructed after 18 months. Very disappointing to put it mildly, considering the warranty is a miserly 12 months.
Clear, easy-to-follow instructions. For some reason, I had to restart TiVo several more times than the instructions directed. Will not work with a Weakness-modified TiVo, unless you send both to Weaknees for paid pairing.
